The Bible says it quite clearly in the New Testament: fornication is a sin.
But what does fornication mean? Today we think of fornication in the sense of
sexual relations between unmarried individuals, a meaning that began in the
1500s. However, the Bible was translated into English in the 1300s so one most
ask him/herself what fornication meant at the time.
Our word fornication comes from the Latin word "fornicare", derived
from the noun "fornix" which means "arch, vault, or arched
basement". That doesn't make sense when you first look at it. But look back
at Roman times and you'll discover that brothels were quite often established in
vaults or basements. Fornix then became a term for a brothel itself. Therefore,
fornication meant sexual relations with a prostitute. So when the Bible says
that fornication is a sin, it is referring to prostitution, not premarital sex.
Sex is God's gift to humankind that should be honored and treasured, but not
legislated into a narrowly defined arena. Humans put restrictions on sex, not
God. By legislating and regulating it until it no longer exists in its natural
condition, society has perverted sex into something completely unlike the
beautiful act God intended.
It's impossible to reason with ignorance. I have my beliefs and you have yours.
As a Christian, I understand that the two greatest commandments are love God and
love your neighbor. From this flows the Christian basis of the golden rule: do
unto others as you would have them do unto you.
I don't care if you believe that we are all sinners, but I find it hard to
believe that you yourself are free of sin. I admit that I have many sins.
Consequently, I do not throw the first stone, I do not judge, and I do not push
my beliefs on others.
You didn't succeed in converting anyone or convincing him or her to accept
Jesus. In fact you've probably done just the opposite. By presenting a narrow
minded and intolerant image of Christianity, you are quite probably turning
people away from such a wonderful religion. The sort of intolerance and bigotry
that was evident in the Spanish Inquisition, the Burning Times, and Nazi Germany
is still alive and well in America today, and it is killing Christianity still.

I didn't think they let patients use the internet in mental institutions.
